The Concept

Alvanley Community Sculpture Meadow will be an open, free-to-access sculpture meadow, encompassing site-specific sculptures as well as educational information on local flora, wildlife and geology. The 1.5 acre site is planted with blossom trees and wildflowers. The aim is to create a free to access, permanent and evolving work of art, set within a landscape of natural beauty that benefits the local and wider community, and which will have a lasting and positive effect on the visitors.

The land allocated for Alvanley Community Sculpture Meadow is situated just outside Chester, Cheshire on the outskirts of the small countryside village of Alvanley. A popular footpath [The Sandstone Trail] runs through the Meadow, and as a result, it will be permanently and freely accessible to everyone. The aim is to bring a new and interesting element to people who use the footpath and encourage new visitors to the area by showcasing art and educational information.

There will be seating areas placed around the Meadow to encourage people to sit and view the art in the environment and to take in the natural beauty of the area.
